The Last Month, Day 7: Horseflesh Productions

My sister Camilla recently participated in a group show in Los Angeles and had one of her pieces featured in the L.A. Times (photo above). More on her BLOG if you wish (scroll down--there's much to see). In February she had a solo show in Salt Lake, and in April she had a solo show in San Francisco.

It's kind of odd to look at us, me and my siblings, in my head, and realize where we are now. In my head we're all still young, living in a rambling maze-like house with a scrub oak forest for a backyard on the mountainside in Provo. Camilla was always going to be an artist. Maybe those early drawings of mice she gave me when I was twelve and she was ten will be worth something to someone besides me someday. I still have them. I used to understand her so well. I would never have called us best friends at the time, but I couldn't have imagined life without her, and now I would say we were best friends who had no choice in the matter. As adults our lives are so different that it's like we live on different planets, especially since she moved to Phoenix. Our planets do occasionally come into the same orbit though, and it's nice to visit her world, to peer through her telescopes and pinhole cameras.

I often think to myself that I'm really glad these people are my siblings. I desperately love them, love knowing them, and I would probably never be friends with these particular people if we weren't born into it.

I am glad you still feel connected, even though at different points than in the past. Your path has been pretty darn artistic too, though.
