The Last Month, Day 5: Horned Melon

Shopping at the local barrio/grocery store last night, the kids and I discovered a new fruit. It's called a horned (horny?) melon and supposedly it comes from New Zealand. It cost five bucks, which seems a little steep, but discovery often comes with a price tag.

We cut it open after dinner and everyone gave it a lick. What it tastes like is a cross between a very unripe banana and a sour cucumber. What it looks like on the inside is... well, you can see for yourself. So unless you're buying one for decorative purposes, you might want to give it a pass if you come across one. Then again, maybe you'll love it.

MMMMMMMMM looks tasty.

Maybe next time you can get that stinky fruit from Indonesia, what's it called?
