A huge thanks to everyone for the kind comments on the last post. They really made me smile (and laugh, even). I feel loved. Rereading the post, I have to apologize to the lousy grammar. J'ai honte. I'm embarrassed. Anyway, Blue the Brother and Liz the Girlfriend got here yesterday and everything's great. I was casually scrubbing cupboard doors while I chatted with them in the kitchen, but I don't think they noticed. And I finally got that drink last night, dropping an Irish Carbomb (or two) and laughing a lot. Liz moonlights as a bartender at an Irish pub as she's putting herself through school and it was fun to make her mix us weird drinks. We're going to mess around today and show Liz life in the Big SLC (she grew up on Long Island).
An aside to Heather: I just realized that I forgot to call you back, so I'll do that ASAP. Thanks for getting my bag from Jessamyn for me. I'm excited to see it. And everyone else's bags are stunning, at least from what I've seen on the blogs. Way to go, grrls.
And finally, I had a blogland meets reality experience yesterday that was necessarily surreal. I was shopping with the kids at Costco when I saw a little girl in a shopping cart that I recognized but I didn't know how. Then I realized that she was the daughter of Heather Armstrong of Dooce.com and I had seen her photo many times on the blog. If I had only seen Heather's face I wouldn't have made the connection. I introduced myself to Heather and we chatted for a little bit. I asked Heather if she got recognized very much and she said that it doesn't happen much in Salt Lake but it happens all the time when she travels. Which is funny to me.
