This is my favorite midnight snack. Or anytime I'm craving a bucketload of carbs. It started in highschool when I was doing tons of extracurricular stuff and not eating much. The procedure: throw a couple of potatoes in the microwave for five or eight minutes, hack off a few hunks of cheese (here we have, clockwise from the top, fresh buffalo mozzarella, Tillamook sharp cheddar, Bel Gioso fontina, and some gouda from Rockhill Creamery in Logan), and then eat it all out of hand. The beer came into the picture later, but it makes a nice addition. Nice, but not necessary, is the roasted garlic bread from Crumb Brothers, also picked up on Monday's sojourn to Logan. People, I go to Logan to visit my friend Katie, but I stay because of Crumb Brothers. This bakery is worth a pilgrimmage all its own. Never have pastries been so perfect or bread so satisfying. The Crumb Brothers (or their lackeys) come to the Salt Lake City Farmers Market in the summer, so you have no excuse not to try the best bread in the state. It's also available at Liberty Heights Fresh, but it's not as, ahem, fresh. It's a paradisical gustatory confluence to sit at the table with my knitting in hand: I knit a few rows, take a few bites, sip from the bottle, and feel the satisfaction settle in my head, belly, and hands.

Yummmm. Your carb-fest looks delish!
I also saw a crumb brothers display at Wild Oats on 4th south. I was shocked, SHOCKED! It can't be as good as getting it right from Logan though. :) Cinnamon pullaparts.... *drool*
I love crumb brothers. whenever I visit the family, we always make a trip up and buy way too many breads and goodies to eat in one week.
Awww, this post so makes me miss Logan. Crumb Brothers! Rockhill Creamery! I used to go to the farmer's market every weekend for these things, plus Hip Mama Lemonade...
By the way, that cheese most definitely counterbalances the carbs. I wouldn't even count the carbs at all! But that's just me...
Now that is what life is supposed to be like. Bread, beer, and cheese.
You know that the word "companion" means "someone you share bread with"? It's essential.
