I spent the weekend camping at Dinosaur National Monument (or is it a National Park?) with 29 kindergartners and their families. I was sort of dreading it, but it ended up being dead fun, even despite being surrogate mother to W-Man's friend F. whose parents couldn't come because they have a farm and had to plant this weekend. F. is a tad neurotic. No, he's very neurotic. But sweet, in his own way. Everything was okay unless I tried to make him wash or eat or brush his teeth. So he was returned to his parents this morning with scummy teeth, a filthy body, and probably hungry, although he ate an entire cow's worth of beef jerky on the way home, so that wasn't such an issue. The place we camped was right on the Green River, which had swelled its banks a little from the spring runoff. It was beautiful. The kids had a wonderful time checking out the dinosaur bones, petroglyphs, sandstone cliffs, and giant dust piles, and no one was maimed or killed. It was a total success.
P.S. I do believe there's enough interest to support a KIP-along at Gilgal. The evenings are perfect for it right now; we'll have to do it post-haste.
