Finally, on his actual due date (have you ever heard of such a thing?), the little carrot is here! I was worried I'd have to show up today for World-Wide Knit In Public Day at Farmers Market and disappoint everyone.
J. was born this morning at 4:58am (his initials are J.Z.H.A.). He weighed 7 lb. 9 oz. making Kris is the winner of the sock yarn. One surprise was his red hair. Even though my first two are redheads, I really didn't think we'd have another one. He was born at home in a birthing pool, and as far as things go that compare to crapping out a rocking chair, it went really well. The water made things so much easier and gentler, and he was here sooner than I expected, with only 10 minutes of pushing. I always wanted to have a home birth, but was always too nervous. Then I decided at around 36 weeks gestation that if this was going to be my last time, I want it to be the birth that I've always wanted but didn't trust myself enough to seek. So I went for it, and I'm so glad that I did.
Thank you to everyone for all of your kind wishes. It's nice to be able to share this with my friends, both close by and far away, the ones I see every week and the ones I know only online.
I'll try to post some photos tomorrow.
Love and peace to all of you.

Love and peace to you and the new little one!!
Congrats! I am glad that everything is well and the way that you wanted it to as far as the home birth goes. I can't wait to see pictures of him with his red hair.
It's so wonderful to hear that everything went well and that you were able to have the home birth you wanted. I'm sure he's an adorable little guy.
All the best to you and your new wee one. Another redhead! How lucky you all are!
Yay! Congratulations! Welcome to the world J.
Congratulations! I think that's the first time I've actually heard of a baby being born on his/her due date. And kudos to you on doing the home birth. I can only imagine it's a bit scary knowing you're away from a hospital Just In Case but how rewarding to bring your new boy into the world already at the home you've already built with the rest of his new family. And redheaded babies are just the cutest!
Congratulations! That is so cool you did a home birth! My kiddo came on her due date too :)
Oh congratulations!!!! My son was born June 9, at 4:59am!!! It's a great day to be born, he turned 3 yesterday.
Congrats on the homebirth also. I've had my last 2 at home and it is fantastic, I love waterbirths.
Enjoy your babymoon Mama!!!
Many Congratulations, I am so happy for your family, and especially for you, that the birth of your little one was something you had always wanted to let yourself do.
You are my inspiration, truly. I always wanted a home birth, but it was not to be. So cool that you had the support you needed around you to pull off this most excellent adventure.
Vicarious thrills for me, lady. Can't wait to see him and hug all the brothers and sister as well.
Did W. give in and call him by his birth name, or is he still sticking with "William"?
Love, love, love.
PS - did I miss the crapping rocking chair story?
How wonderful that you finally had the confidence to do it the way you wanted, Neo was a waterbirth in the hospital, and if I do it again it will be in a pool at home. Congratulations and welcome to the world from the other side of the pond baby J
Congratulations!! And welcome to the little guy!
Wonderful news! I had all three at home and am so glad you felt confident enough to go ahead and try it... such a rich and personal experience. You are right though, still hurts. All that is behind you now and good wishes for lots of peaceful bonding time for the whole family.
Congratulations! Give the little one lots of hugs and a kissy from me.
