My Summer So Far:

I really love this mellow little dewdrop baby. He has so completely captured my heart.

My mother again taught me how to can fruit. I picked the apricots from my grandmother's tree on the Fourth.

The sock was frogged this morning because it's a wee bit small for the little girl who is growing like a weed. The yarn (hand-dyed by Ms. Stitch-n-Snitch and gifted to my mom) was leftover from my mom's first pair of socks. When the little girl saw her Meemaw's lovely socks, she had to have some too. I cast on for a bigger sock this afternoon.

The moth was discovered on an evening walk with the kids. Its wingspan was four inches across. S. refused to believe is wasn't a bird. I don't know what species it is though. Do you, Camilla?

There's been so much more, of course. My brother is visiting from New York for a whole month. I designed my first real sock pattern, and helped a friend get packed to move. Extra kids regularly invade the house and help track all the dirt in the backyard into the house. I dream about renewing my motorcycle license. And there's Farmers Market and yoga (yoga is the new knitting, by the way) and birthday parties and backyard dinners. And a lot of laundry.

Canning fruit sounds like fun. One thing I will definitely get my grandmother or my aunt to do is to teach me how to make homemade jelly once we become neighbors.
