"Mommy, why is God throwing up in the toilet?"

God is dead.

The above is from an inspired website which randomly matches Nietzsche quotes with Family Circus cartoons. I live with a man whose weekly cardio workout includes reading Family Circus in the Sunday comics just so he can get really, really, really pissed off over how dumb it is. He calls it Porn for the Elderly. This website was, I think, extremely cathartic for him.

I finished the Arrowhead scarf and lovely T. of Stitch-n-Snitch received it in the exchange. Though I stressed about getting it right, I was sad when the knitting was done. I had grown really attached to it, and I was bereft the next day when it wasn't sitting by my bed, waiting for me to knit that lace pattern. I couldn't figure out what to knit next, so I dug out some old UFOs, the few that I hadn't frogged when I moved my stash from the dining room to the basement, and began working on them in quick succession. First off the needles in less than an hour was a beanie that I started well over a year ago for my big-headed older brother J. which ended up fitting my almost-two-year old. The UFO-off has been going steadily since. It's a great feeling to finish this stuff, and it gives me time to dream up the next "perfect" project.

And what did I get from the exchange? A beautiful silk "yarn bra" (first time I ever heard that term) from Susan, full of her own hand-dyed yarn! You know what's funny? The whole time I was knitting the scarf, I KNEW I was going to get this bag. The paper bags were distributed totally at random in the exchange by Laurie, so it was coincidence, but I still got that Twilight Zone feeling when I opened the bag she handed me. I love it. And it still freaks me out a little.

Hmmm . . . all the UFO finishing sounds a little bit like a nesting instinct. Quick, before it passes come to my house and finish up my UFOs.

You're finishing UFO's and I'm starting new projects though only halfway through with others.

Very short attention span these days. My eyelid is twitching, too. Hmmm. Best take up drinking.

I think Susan is right. Definite nesting impulse. That's a great idea for a book. No reason why Debbie Stoller should be the only one collecting our collective works.... Unfortunately, if we post our works to our blogs that negates copyright. So if we plan to collect these, next go round, we must request that everyone keep their patterns for our booklet if they so choose to participate.
