Other Finished Objects.

So yeah, if you read the comments on my last post, you've seen that the witch hat got stolen. I hope whoever grabbed it out of my shopping cart in the parking lot at Lowe's (having just bought the wire to shape the brim) is wearing the thing, and that it isn't moldering in a dumpster somewhere. Susan suggested that it was probably mistaken for a purse. Alas. I wanted to cry when it happened. I skipped the Halloween party for which it had been made. But I'm over it now. Maybe I'll make another one next year. I heavily modified the pattern, and I really liked how it turned out. A big regret is that I never got to photograph it in its finished state. It really looked amazing.
With the witch hat done, I've been attacking UFOs with abandon. In fact, when we packed up to move, the whole yarn stash went into storage; I only kept out the unfinished projects. Now Skye finally has a pair of mittens all his own (started in New York in March), and Camille has a lovely tam (which isn't very "tammy", but oh well--it's cute). I coulda sold the hat off her head and a hundred more in a week if I was mass producing them, but that's a discussion for another day, now ain't it?
ETA: The hat pattern is the Sunflower Tam, size small, from Knitting Nature, by Norah Gaughan. When I knit another one, I'll use a smaller needle for the ribbed brim. Unfortunately, the lovely swirling cable pattern on the top is somewhat lost in the Noro Silk Garden yarn, but the stripes are the upside.
This hat is in heavy rotation, since I wear it every morning to drive Walker to school before I've taken a shower and my again-short hair is poking up every which-way. I might run into somebody familiar and, you know, ruin my reputation of perfectly coifed coifurage.

I love that tam! Is there a pattern for it or did you just wing it?

Cool, I have that book, thank you. I forgot to add that I'm sorry about your witch hat, that totally sucks :(

I totally agree--the stripes are awesome on that hat. I have been trying to do UFO knitting lately too but it is a challenge.
